A Laptop for Every Student

In 2020, Mayor John Cooper directed $24 million in funding from the federal CARES Act to provide every public school student in Nashville-Davidson County with a laptop.

Through the course of fall 2020; Technology Services distributed new CARES act devices to MNPS students regardless if they were learning in-person or remote to ensure all students had access to a high-quality learning experience.

“As our Board of Education knows, the digital divide is one of the biggest challenges facing our schools and because of the leadership of Mayor John Cooper, we are taking a huge step forward for equity,” said Dr. Adrienne Battle, Director of Metro Nashville Public Schools. “This investment and these devices will make a big impact on our students’ lives, and we can’t thank Mayor Cooper enough for making that possible.”
